How healthy weight gain during pregnancy

#Cosmoread: Gaining weight during pregnancy is both natural and necessary. But a healthy amount of weight gained during pregnancy is limited to a whole other story, and certainly does not help the old adage “eating for two” is.

Women might think that “being pregnant gives them license to eat anything,” Katherine Tallmadge, a registered dietitian and an op-Ed contributor to the science. But gaining too much weight during pregnancy, mothers can have long-term health consequences, she said.
That’s because it could be really, really hard to lose excess fat after that, she said.

Indeed, studies have shown that the amount of weight a woman gains during pregnancy after giving birth, she plays a major role in showing how much you will lose.
So, that in mind, here’s a healthy way to gain weight during pregnancy.

300 calories

For most women in their second and third trimesters is recommended – – 1 £ (0.45 kg) at the rate of a week to achieve it only takes 300 extra calories a day, on average, Tallmadge told.

A woman can get those extra calories, for example, drink two glasses of milk and a whole grain (about 100 calories) by eating an additional serving (around 100 calories each), Tallmadge said. Add yogurt or fatty fish also have a great view of the service, she said. (Women who are overweight or obese before pregnancy less than 1 £ weekly are recommended to achieve, so they need less extra calories.)

In any case, the approach should be all about nutritious food to eat, Tallmadge said, noting that these guidelines not so different from other health guidelines, with the exception of pregnant women slightly more calcium, Iron and folic acid than other adults need. (These can come from a prenatal multivitamin, she said.)

Dr. Jacinda Nicklas, of the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine, also said that women like avocados or nuts, no junk food as healthy fats, they should increase the calories.
Of course, pregnancy weight gain requirements change, progress are increasing with each quarter with the recommended number of calories.

Small Meals

While it is relatively common for women to gain too much weight in the first quarter, for some, it’s really hard to get enough calories later in pregnancy can be.
The developing fetus during the third quarter gain a lot of fat, and it is important for a pregnant woman to consume enough calories to do the embryo Kathleen Rasmussen, a professor of nutrition at Cornell University, said maternal and child.
But the growing size of the child in a woman’s midsection, and faster due to limited space, the women eat large meals for later in your pregnancy can be difficult, Rasmussen told.
As such, Rasmussen recommends that, unless a woman is eating high-calorie foods, she should eat several small meals a day.

Shared stories, real lives

As the nurse left the room the unit of free health care in my area, the tears started rolling down my cheeks. My body of a young 17 year old daughter started shaking out of control. The nurse had me confirm that I was actually pregnant. I was already six months pregnant, I had no home and I was alone. I had no money, no job and no future. What should I do for a child? Just a few months ago, I was president of my class, I delivered the valedictory address in my class and I was about to enter a university with a high-level full scholarship. Now, my life was over and I could not do anything about it.
