India vs. Pakistan: World’s Greatest Rivalry
#Cosmoread: Whenever we talk of rivalry in cricket, the rivalry between India and Pakistan always comes up. If a match is scheduled between the two countries, the whole world waits for the clash. It has been deemed as the Greatest rivalries of all time.
The matches attract up to a billion audiences as reported by several TV rating firms. During the semi-final in 2011, it attracted 988 million viewers.
The history of this rivalry goes back to the days of Independence of India. In 1952, Pakistan toured India for the first time, and a Test series was played in India. Pakistan played the international test match for the first time. It was played in Delhi, Lucknow nd Bombay. The loss to Pakistan in the second test led to the angry reaction of the crowd against Indian players. As It was a tie and the memory of the partition was fresh, so the third test was filled with intense pressure due to which players of both the teams were affected. So it was filled with defensive tactics and so began the rivalry between the two countries.
Pakistan First Test Series
Since then Pakistan won its first Test series in 1978 after 26 Years of first playing Test match. Although the wins came late to Pakistan, but Pakistan leads India with a total of 12-9 score in Tests. Similarly, in ODIs Pakistan leads with a score of 72-51. But India leads in the most popular form of cricket i.e. in twenty20 4-1.
As these matches are made political every now and then, the frequency of these matches are only limited to the fixtures in Tournaments. And speaking of tournaments, Pakistan has never ever defeated India in any World Cup match of any forms for which India is very proud of. India leads Pakistan in the World Level Tournament matches by a head to head score of 22-12.
Again, India will meet Pakistan in a World Cup match on 19th March this Year in India. Even if it’s a home match for India, it will not be easy for any Team. India has to maintain its reputation for not losing any match in any World Cup, and Pakistan has to try breaking the tradition of being defeated.
