Coffee pot: What happens when you mix marijuana and caffeine?
Now your foods and drinks that are available in the form of communications products with a marijuana growing list of adding coffee.
Many companies have started to sell cannabis-laced coffee, a couple of them for their Cup “buzz” claim to.
But what happens when you combine the two psychoactive substances: marijuana and caffeine?
The combination of these two effects of using substances that have not been heavily researched, Dr. Scott Krakower, New Hyde Park, New York subsidiary of psychiatry at Zucker Hillside Hospital chief said. But the use of the two drugs in combination could potentially be a problem, he said.
Laboratory and animal studies suggest that some of that evidence taken together, caffeine and marijuana “is a mixture, neurochemically,” Krakower told Live Science. In other words, they have different effects when used together, the effect that you have been seeing each compound when used alone would be expected.
For example, it seems that caffeine and THC (marijuana’s psychoactive effects attributed to their compound) the combination may worsen a person’s working memory, Krakower said. This is counterintuitive, as other research suggests that caffeine may include cognitive-enhancing properties, he said. There is some sort of compromise when the two chemicals are taken together seems to be working against you, he said.
At the same time there is also a stimulant (caffeine) and a depressant (marijuana) to take the issue, he said.
The possibility of combining the two user wired and at the same time will make you feel tired, he said. But marijuana is not canceled out with drug-induced high, taking caffeine, he said. And it is a mistake to think that someone could get high and then cool, thanks to caffeine, that may be, Krakower said.
Concerning the harmful effects of the combination are cognitive, he said.
Much more research is needed concerning, however, Krakower added.
With the legalization of marijuana in some states, food products are growing in popularity. Some experts worry that these products and can lead users to consume more THC than they are intended, at the beginning of the influence of the drug when it is used as opposed to smoke are slower to – as they wait, the users, can eat more to feel the effects.
